Like many others, I believe that “it was the prayers of God’s People that changed the course of this election”.
Also like many others, I believe that “it wasn’t prayers for a certain political party or candidate to win, because our hope is not in men or nations. Our hope is in Almighty God alone”.
In the days following his reading of Scripture and Prayers for our new President Donald J. Trump, Dr. Franklin Graham wrote:
“It is my feeling that the Lord has given us a brief window of opportunity for our nation to return to moral sanity and ignite genuine spiritual renewal. Perhaps, by God’s grace, that steady slide into the moral chaos brought about by a liberal, progressive agenda can be stopped, even reversed.
“The past decade has seen an unprecedented moral decline in Americas, much of it endorsed by the past administration through its very public support of same sex marriage, abortion and transgender rights. Additionally, there was a systematic harassment and persecution of Christian businesses across the nation.
“While the rights of nearly every minority group in America were defended, the rights of Christians were trampled upon by numerous federal and state court rulings. The past administration granted leniency to virtually every minority group imaginable, while it targeted and opposed Christians who publically stood up for their sincere help religious beliefs”…
So, as we enter 2017 with new leadership for our nation, the most critical thing, the most effective thing that you and I can do is to trust the mercy and faithfulness of God and pray.
The Bible says that “righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people” (Proverbs 14:34).
The Bible also says that “… The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working] (James 5:16 Amplified Bible).
And the Bible also says “ But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out] Hebrews 11:6 (Amplified Bible).
So first, Pray for President Donald Trump. Pray for Vice President Mike Pence. Pray for our new cabinet members and remaining nominees. Pray for the new nominee to the Supreme Court. Pray for wisdom, clarity and humility before Almighty God. Pray for God’s healing for our nation, protection for our religious liberties and more opportunities to proclaim the saving gospel, the Good News of Jesus Christ to as many as possible.
Secondly, continue believing and trusting the One who hears our prayers! Continue expecting God to heal our Land and to turn our entire nation back from our own ways so that we again become “One Nation Under God, Indivisible”!
Jesus is Lord of the United States of America!
